A summer scene to break up the stark, white sheet of The Moon today.
We love these blooms, which are called cigarros in Spanish, but red-hot pokers in English. Oddly, cigarro does not mean cigar. It means cigarette. Puro means cigar.
At least in this country. If memory serves, cigarro does mean cigarette in Puerto Rico, where I once lived. It’s tough to restrain language, keep it accountable.
Hereabouts, it’s damp and cool, a fine Spanish summertime.
